Erik Foster is a Medical Entomologist with the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services, Emerging & Zoonotic Infectious Diseases Section. Mr. Foster received a Master’s of Science degree from Michigan State University in 2004, and has been working on the subject of vector-borne infectious disease and public health nuisance pests with MDHHS since 2003. In this role he conducts surveillance for vector-borne and zoonotic diseases such as West Nile virus, Lyme disease, and Rabies in the state. Working with federal and local partners, as well as Michigan’s public universities, Erik also conducts ecologic field case investigations of disease vectors such as ticks and mosquitoes, and responds to rare occurrences of human diseases associated with animals or arthropods.
